Antonio (Tony) Lopez
(CPA, MST, EA)
Antonio Lopez is a founding partner of Lopez, Chaff and Wiesman Associates, and has been in public practice for over 30 years. Tony has extensive experience in Corporate and LLC taxation–concentrating in the areas of manufacturing, distribution and wholesale, telecommunications, as well as high technology and retirement planning.
Tony is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, and holds a Master of Science in Taxation from Bentley University. Tony has also received the Chartered Financial Consultant designation by the American College. He is professionally associated with the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and Enrolled Agents, the Massachusetts Association of Accountants, along with the National Association of Enrolled Agents and the National Society of Tax Professionals. Tony is also a member and Past President of the Lawrence Rotary Club.
William R. (Bill) Chaff
William Chaff began practicing accounting in 1984, and then partnered with Tony Lopez in 1986 to create Lopez and Chaff Associates. Bill specializes in Corporate, Partnership, and LLC taxation, focusing on service companies, real estate, environmental services, restaurants, and software firms. Bill has extensive experience in the preparation and audit representation of estate and gift taxes. He has worked with local law firms as their outsourced expert in this area.
Bill is professionally associated with the Massachusetts Society of Enrolled Agents, the Massachusetts Association of Accountants, along with the National Association of Enrolled Agents and the National Society of Tax Professionals. Bill is a frequent speaker at local venues on business topics as managing financial milestones, small business and cash flow, and home ownership and taxes to groups of new homeowners.
James E. (Jim) Wiesman
(CPA, MBA, EA, CFE)
James Wiesman has worked in accounting for over 40 years and formed Wiesman and Associates in 1983. He merged his practice with Lopez and Chaff Associates in 1989. Jim is an expert in Corporate, Partnership, and LLC taxation, and specializes in IRS relations and negotiations. His corporate clientele includes companies in the manufacturing, realty, retail and wholesale sectors, along with high technology and software businesses.
Jim received his Bachelor of Science degree from Bentley University and a Master of Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University. He is professionally associated with the Massachusetts Society of Enrolled Agents, the national Association of Enrolled Agents, the National Association of Tax Professionals, the National Society of Tax Professionals, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Douglas E. Thompson
Doug Thompson has been a member of Lopez, Chaff and Wiesman Associates for 21 years, starting out as a Staff Accountant. He has steadily advanced his career, becoming a shareholder in the firm in 2015. Doug specializes in Corporate, Partnership, and LLC taxation. His industry focus is in construction, manufacturing, non-profit organizations, real estate, retail and health and beauty salons. He also has experience in performing audits, reviewed and complication financial statements.
Doug graduated from the University System of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a minor in Mathematics. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 2008. He is professionally associated with the Massachusetts Society of Enrolled Agents, the National Association of Enrolled Agents, the National Society of Tax Professionals, the Massachusetts Society of CPAs, the New Hampshire Society of CPAs and the AICPA. Doug was also been a member of Business Network International for 4 years
Catherine L. (Cathy) Gable
Catherine Gable has been a member of Lopez, Chaff and Wiesman Associates for 30 years. Starting out as an accounting clerk, Cathy steadily advanced her career, becoming a Principal of the firm in 1998. Cathy specializes in accounting and tax planning for construction, manufacturing, and communications industries. She also assists clients in establishing their accounting systems through QuickBooks software.
Cathy is a graduate of Northern Essex Community College where she received an Associate Degree in Business Management. She also attended the Accounting Certificate Program at Merrimack College, along with the H & R Block Tax School. Cathy attends the yearly UMass Tax School Seminar to keep informed with the latest IRS/MA DOR tax updates.
Jody L. Gaumond
Jody Gaumond has been a member of Lopez, Chaff & Wiesman Associates since January 2000. She provides accounting, payroll and tax preparation services to small-medium sized Corporations, Partnerships as well as individuals. She specializes in service industries such as salons, restaurants and medical offices. She assists clients in establishing their accounting systems using QuickBooks software and provides additional training when needed.
Jody attended the University of Lowell majoring in Accounting. She became an Enrolled Agent in 2018.
Brenda J. Soucy
Brenda Soucy has been a member of Lopez, Chaff, and Wiesman Associates for 27 years. Starting out as a Staff Accountant, Brenda has steadily advanced her way up to Senior Accountant and Financial Analyst. She specializes in Corporate, Partnership, and LLC taxation, focusing on rental real estate, wholesale, limousine transportation, manufacturing and non-profit organizations.
She also prepares review and compilation financial statements and has assisted with partners on audits. Brenda received her Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Merrimack College as well as her Accounting Certification. She is professionally associated with the Massachusetts Society of Enrolled Agents, the National Association of Enrolled Agents, the National Society of Tax Professionals and the New Hampshire Society of CPA’s.
Kathleen A. Marino
Kathleen spent 12 years working in the accounting field of the banking industry prior to joining the LCWA team as a staff accountant in 1997. Her banking experience adds value to the company’s clients. Kathleen has been able to advance her skills, especially I the areas of tax planning and preparation. As Senior Accountant, she is responsible for accounting, payroll, tax planning, and tax preparation for a variety of business.
Kathleen earned an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science from Holyoke Community College. She keeps her mind engaged and stress free by staying active, hiking and riding one of her tandem bicycles with her husband.
Maria (Pily) Bisono
Maria (Pily) Bisono started in 2003 as staff accountant, and after a few years in Florida she rejoined the firm as a Senior Accountant in 2012. Pily specializes in accounting, tax preparation, tax planning, United States foreign tax reporting requirements and preparation of financial statements. She is a member of QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program and assists clients with their set up and training needs in the software.
Pily received her Bachelor of Science degree from the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra and a Master of Accounting and Financial Management from Keller School of Management. She is licensed by the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Agent.
As a professional, Pily is associated with the Massachusetts Association of Accountants, and the New Hampshire Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Brian Wholley is a junior accountant and has been a member of Lopez, Chaff, and Wiesman since 2015. Brian has experience in accounting for real estate developers, landscaping companies, and small retail businesses, among other business types. He is practiced in helping with client bookkeeping using QuickBooks, as well as assisting in the preparation of business and personal tax returns.
Brian is a graduate of The Ohio State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in 2012. Brian continued his education at Southern New Hampshire University where he received his Certificate in Accounting. He is currently in the process of becoming an Enrolled Agent.
Wendy had worked in the accounting field for 20 years before joining the staff of Lopez, Chaff & Wiesman Associates in 2002. Wendy started out as a Staff Accountant and has advanced her way up to Senior Accountant/Financial Analyst. She enjoys working with her clients on their normal accounting requirements as well as help them plan-ahead for future events.
She specializes in Corporate, Partnership, and LLC Taxation with a focus on real estate, manufacturing, wholesale, as well as a variety of service businesses.
Wendy is professionally associated with the Massachusetts Society of Enrolled Agents as well as the New Hampshire Society of CPA’s.
Eduardo Bisono started in 2015 as Billing Administrator and Jr. Accountant. He has many years of experience in tax preparation and assists clients with their bookkeeping needs.
Eduardo graduated from DeVry University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship. He also attended the Accounting Certificate Program at Northern Essex Community College, along with H&R Block Tax School.
